Week 4 Definitions and Examples

Contrast: My new school was a good contrast to my previous one.
Critique: The movie critique I read had such positive comments, I was convinced to go see the movie that night.
Persuade: It is my goal to persuade all my students to quit smoking since it is bad for their health.
Contrast:(v) to exhibit unlikeness on comparison with something else; form a contrast, (n) a striking exhibition of unlikeness

Critique:(n) a criticism or critical comment on some problem, subject, etc, (v) to review or analyze critically

Persuade: (n) to induce to believe by appealing to reason or understanding; convince: to persuade the judge of the prisoner's innocence
